Partnership and project implementation

Danish Red Cross’ has a solid partnership with Rwanda Red Cross and quality programming within resilience building, psycho social support, youth engagement and refugee assistance. However, DRC traditional institutional funding is being reduced in Rwnada and new avenues for institutional funding are being explored.

The main purpose of the position is to adjust DRC’s engagement strategy in Rwanda according to the current funding situation and humanitarian needs. This will include exploring and pursuing immediate funding opportunities as well as developing and rolling out a justifiable partnership and DRC country support set-up, while ensuring timely implementation and completion of existing programmes.

The Country Coordinator is under the line management and reports to the Head of Region for Africa, based in Addis Ababa.

Your tasks

  • Fundraise for DRC’s engagement in Rwanda
  • Develop proposals and projects in line with strategic priorities and funding opportunities
  • Support RRCS in timely and quality implementation of existing projects
  • In case fundraising is unsuccessful, ensure a justifiable partnership and DRC country support set-up – Exit of projects and funding based part of partnership
  • Line management for any short-term delegates deployments

Your profile

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in community based programming and/or working with humanitarian organisations in developing and post-emergency countries.
  • Proven Expertise in institutional fundraising
  • Experience with successful EU project proposal writing
  • Relevant educational background
  • Experience from the Red Cross/ Red Crescent Movement is an asset; experience from the East and Horn of Africa would be an advantage
  • Technical knowledge and experience in implementation with participatory methods
  • Good analytical skills and confident self-management.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, networking and facilitation skills
  • English and French speaking and writing skills are key requirements
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office and possess a valid international driving licence

The position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda. The position is a non-family position. The Danish Red Cross office is hosted by Rwanda Red Cross.

We offer

The length of the contract will be 1 year, with possibility of extension. The contract will be administered in accordance with the Danish Red Cross Terms and Conditions for Delegates. The monthly salary including allowances and pension is within the range of DKK 40.875 and DKK 43.167, depending on experience and qualifications.

The date of commencement will be 01.08.2018 and we expect interviews to take place on the 19 and 21 June.
