ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS PROJECT IN RWANDA- Project documentation/Publication Consultancy

Save the Children in Rwanda with funding from the European Union is implementing a three-year project “Accountability for Children’s rights in Rwanda” (ACR) in partnership with Children’s Voice Today, which aims at strengthening the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Children’s networks to actively hold the Government of Rwanda to account for the implementation of children’s rights. This is done through supporting interventions that enhance the civil society’s capacity and influence to Rwanda’s national policies that relate to children and public budgeting, as well as state-party reporting on international commitments on children’s rights. The latter is tied but not limited to, promoting the implementation of the recommendations from the UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (UPR), the Committee on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).

The objective of this assignment is to support Save the Children’s team, mainly the Child Rights Governance Program to develop documents based on the project-specific components (Investment in Children/Public financing for children, Child Rights Monitoring and Reporting, CSOs Advocacy) that will allow different child-focused actors in Rwanda to improve their knowledge on the subject and facilitate possible efforts for replication/scale-up of the project.

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven expertise and experience in the development of quality publications/documents of similar nature (List of similar documents developed)
  • Proven experience in Child Rights Governance
  • Excellent understanding of child rights monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent understanding of investment in children/public financing for children including CSOs and children’s participation in the process
  • Ability to work independently with light or no direct supervision
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills;
  • Excellent organizing, facilitating, presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills

Contract length: 30 days maximum.
