About the project

The intensive English teacher training project is in addition to the wider Building Learning Foundations programme (BLF) which is funded by the UK AID and aims to improve the quality of teaching and leadership in all of Rwanda’s government primary schools. The programme is implemented by a consortium of organisations; Education Development Trust (lead), British Council and VSO and will benefit all Primary 1 – Primary 3 (P1-3) English and Maths teachers in all of Rwanda’s 2,494 primary schools. In response to the results of the baseline APTIS test in January 2018, BLF is piloting an intensive English residential course to help boost the speaking skills of the P1-3 English teachers with the lowest levels of English (A0-A1 CEFR).
