Head of Sales & Digital

 Bank of Africa Rwanda is poised for rapid growth in the near future. To support this growth strategy, we are looking for a dynamic, focussed, motivated and result oriented individual to fill in the above position.


The candidate will be reporting to the Managing Director and will be responsible for growth and management of the Bank’s business in line with Bank’s overall strategy and will provide leadership to the Bank’s business teams to ensure business growth and profitability of the Bank. The candidate is also accountable for the development and implementation of the Bank Digital Strategy.

Key responsibilities;

1.    Bank Business Strategy:

Responsible for the strategic development and operational activities of the Business Units to ensure maximum profitability and quality of customer service.
Lead the development of the annual business plans.
Foster a corporate culture that promotes high customer retention, exceptional customer service, high ethical practices, and good corporate relationship.
Responsibility for team development and new hires.
Supervises and leads personnel, manages the growth and service of the loan portfolio, manages department budget.
Development and implementation of Strategic Business Units plan and building a strong deposit and loan portfolio through the leadership of the overall business development function.
General management of the Bank’s activities with special emphasis and responsibility for asset management and liability generation.
Comply with KYC rules, regulations, and legislation governing the financial services industry

2.    Bank Digital Strategy:

Oversee and responsible for the overall commercial performance of the Bank’s Digital products, payments solutions and alternative channels through formulating and executing a comprehensive Digital business growth strategy.
As a Business owner, responsible for Digital Projects through coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure purposes of increasing penetration.
Generate and drive revenue or cost savings from Digital products, solutions, channels and services through the application of strategic pricing models or automation of processes.
Coordinate with the Marketing team to periodically evaluate and determine the level of customer satisfaction for all Digital products, services, solutions, channels and come up with strategies, action points to improve the performance.
Scan the market environment for Digital trends and identify Digital growth opportunities or any threats to the business.
Work with cross-functional teams to identify and propose relevant Digital propositions and solutions for various Customer Segments and Bank operations processes.
Ensure that effective controls are implemented to mitigate risks related to offering Digital banking products and services by ensuring that Digital products and service standards are consistent with Regulatory guidelines.

Knowledge and Skills requirements:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited University
A Master’s degree in Business is an added advantage
Minimum of 12 years post qualification experience, of which at least 8 must have been in the Banking Sector and 5 years must have been at a senior management level
Strong track record in Direct Selling, Sales Management, and Relationship Management.
Solid grasp general trends and applicability of technology, electronic channels/banking
Strong strategic perspective.
Leadership and people management skills.
Customer centricity, with a strong sense for client behavior.
Solid business penetration and financial skills.
Networking skills, tact, and diplomacy; with the ability to influence key people inside and outside the Bank.
Very strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the Rwandan market
Knowledge and understanding of banking operations (international & domestic)
