Job Title: Sales and Marketing Manager

Reporting to: Country Manager

Location: Head Office, Kigali

The Role

As Sales and Marketing Manager, you will create and execute a culturally sensitive marketing strategy for MeshPower’s village mini-grids, leading our sales and customer support teams in the field and in the Kigali corporate office, and driving growth in both services delivered and sales revenue. You will work with internal and external stakeholders, creating vision and passion for the power of mini-grids to transform families and entire communities. You will be a big-picture leader with focused attention to detail, accountability, and results.

Responsibilities Include

Create and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for MeshPower’s rural mini-grid services focused on community development

Implement strategies for education and sensitization to the benefits of electricity in the home, and the power of electricity as a driver of economic development in the village

Understand and integrate with the village/cell’s imihigo’s, and work within the existing social structure (village leaders, associations and co-ops, etc.)

Perform data-driven analyses to understand the rural consumer’s requirements for domestic and commercial electrical services

Design and execute appropriate sales campaigns within the context of the strategic marketing plan

Manage relationships with NGO strategic partners for productive use development

Manage the Sales and Support team, including both field and head office sales staff, and including budget and financial obligations

Proactively support and implement gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace and among the customer base

Job Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

Relevant experience in a marketing role, to include creating and executing focused marketing strategies

Successful experience with direct sales to consumers

Two years of management or team leadership experience

Effective communication and persuasion skills

Enthusiastic and positive attitude

Kinyarwanda proficiency

English language proficiency and professional writing skills

Preferred qualifications

University Degree in Marketing or Business, or equivalent practical experience

Basic understanding and enthusiasm for Solar Energy and/or Information Technology

Experience selling IT or electrification services to the public
